Los Angeles, CA— Oxy baseball was back in action to finish Game 3 of their series against the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens after completing half an inning before rain postponed the rest of the game to Monday afternoon.Â
Elias Oster was on the mound for Oxy and was able to get a huge strikeout to end the 1st inning with two runners on to limit the Sagehens to one run scored in the inning. Oster would settle in and only allow one hit over the next three innings of work.Â
Pomona was able to score two more runs in the 5th inning with a 2 RBI double. AJ Naha would come in relief to pitch quality innings for the Tiger including a scoreless 6th inning. The bottom half of the 6th inning is when Oxy would strike for a big inning.Â
Alex Henderson started the scoring with an RBI walk with the bases loaded, and Jackson Short followed with an2 RBI double to right field to give Oxy a 4-3 lead after Tyler Kubo had a sacrifice fly for an RBI.Â
With 2 outs in the 6th, Garrett Palme capped off the big inning with a 2-run home run to extend the Oxy lead to 6-3. Sancho Llamas continued his strong offensive performance on the weekend by adding two more Tigers runs with a 2 RBI single in the 8th inning.Â
AJ Naha would pick up the win by closing out the game with 3.2 scoreless innings of relief, while striking out 5 batters, only allowing one hit, and walking two batters. Oster also pitched very well for Oxy with 4.2 innings, allowing 5 this and 3 runs while striking out 7 Saghens. With the win, Naha improves to 3-4 on the mound this year, and the Tigers move to 4-5 in SCIAC play in 2024.Â
The Tigers will be back in action at Anderson Field at 3pm on Friday, March 29th against the California Lutheran University Kingsmen.
