Los Angeles, CA— Oxy baseball and California Lutheran squared off in a matchup at Anderson Field on Thursday.
The Tigers got on the board first thanks to a solo blast to right field from First Year Alex Henderson. The Kingsmen would respond with 6 runs in the top of the 2nd inning to take the lead 6-1.
Oxy would cut into the lead in the 2nd, when First Year Jackson Short would also launch a solo home run over the right field wall, and Sancho Llamas made it 6-3 in the 3rd inning with another solo home run.
The Kingsmen scored on a homer of their own in the 5th, but Llamas delivered another RBI knock for Oxy in the bottom half of the inning with an RBI double that scored Nick Gonzalez. Cal Lu would score 3 runs in the 6th to make it 10-4, but the Tigers would keep their power swings working in the 7th when Garrett Palme hit a home run to right field to make it 10-5.
The Tigers totaled 4 home runs in the game but the Kingsmen would get the win by a score of 11-5. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Friday to conclude the series and avoid the weather over the weekend.
