Pasadena, CA— After weather postponed Oxy's doubleheader with Caltech from Saturday to Sunday, more rain caused the games to shift from Anderson Field to Caltech with the Tigers remaining the home team.
Caltech got on the board first after two 2 out walks put runners on first and second base and a single brought home the runner from second. The Tigers tied the game at 1 in the 3rd inning after 3 walks loaded the bases, Andy Franck drew a 2 out walk to bring home the run.
Oxy then took the lead in the bottom of the 4th inning when Alex Henderson hit his first SCIAC home run of the year over the right field wall. Oxy tacked on insurance runs in the 7th inning after an error allowed the leadoff hitter on, Jackson Short doubled with 2 outs to bring home Mason Olson and Ryan Cacatian brought home Short with an RBI double to left field.
AJ Naha pitched well for the Tigers and earned the win by pitching 7 innings, allowing only 1 earned run and striking out 3 batters. First Year Christian Martinez earned the save out of the bullpen by pitching the 8th and 9th innings and striking out 5 of the 6 outs recorded.
Oxy secured a 4-1 win to take game 2 of the series with Caltech, winning their first SCIAC series of the season. The Tigers would look to secure a sweep by winning game three of the series.
