Thousand Oaks, CA— Oxy baseball was in action for game 3 of their series with Cal Lutheran on Friday afternoon.
The Tigers would get on the board first in the 1st inning when Garrett Palme blasted a home run over the wall to make it 1-0 Oxy. Cal Lutheran tied the game at 1 with a sac fly in the bottom half of the inning, but Oxy responded with a big 2nd inning.
Jackson Short had an RBI single that scored Mason Olson, and Sancho Llamas followed with a 2 RBI triple. Palme would drive in another run on the day with a sac fly that scored Llamas from 3rd base and made it 5-1 Tigers early on.
The Kingsmen would get 2 runs back in the bottom half of the inning to make it 5-3 Tigers, and they tied the game at 5 with a 2-run homer in the 3rd. The Kingsmen took the lead in the 4th with help from a 2 RBI double that made the score 8-5.
Cal Lu would go on to win by a score of 13-5, taking the final game of the series. Garrett Palme ended the day for Oxy 1 for 3 at the plate with a homer, a run scored and an RBI. Sancho Llamas continued to see the ball well, going 2 for 5 at the plate with a 2 RBI triple.
Alex Henderson was 2 for 3 and Ben Rutkin went 3 for 5 for the Tigers. Elias Oster had a solid performance out of the Tiger bullpen, not allowing a run over 1.1 innings and striking out 1 batter.
The Tigers will be back in action in Orange when they take on the Chapman Panthers for game 1 of a 3 game set on Friday, April 5th at 3:00pm.
