Women's hoops cruises past Chapman, picks up fifth in a row

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Women's basketball cruised to its fifth-straight victory – a 75-52 win over Chapman on Wednesday, January 15 at Rush Gym.

The Tigers got off to a hot start and never looked back, leading wire-to-wire in their most dominant victory of the season. Oxy jumped out to an 11-point lead at the halfway point of the first quarter. Part-way through the second, the Panthers cut the lead to eight, but that's the closest they got all night.

Oxy dominated in the paint, outscoring the Panthers 42-26 by the basket. The Tigers tied a season-best in blocks with six. Paige Yasukochi tallied a season-high of three.

Offensively, Michelle Lagunas-Monroy led the charge with a career-high 22 points. She got to the rim with ease, making 9-of-13 from the floor.

Oxy posted its best three-point shooting night of the season, draining buckets from long range at a near 55% clip. Dominique Cabading was 3-for-5 from deep while Emily Ko was a perfect 2-for-2.

BY THE NUMBERS
The Tigers out rebounded Chapman 43-39, and while the Panthers forced more turnovers, picked up more steals, and had 30 more bench points, Oxy's defensive prowess held Chapman to a slim 31% shooting percentage and sub-30 performance from deep.

Yasukochi picked up her first double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 boards.

Ko continues to dazzle on the offensive end, she's now up to a 38% three-point shooting
Percentage. Among qualified players with at least 80 attempts, she would rank second in the conference.
