Women's soccer falls at RV Athenas

CLAREMONT, Calif. — Occidental fell to Claremont-M-S 2-0 on Saturday at Pritzlaff Field. Despite the Tigers' three shots on goal, Claremont-M-S capitalized on their opportunities, scoring once in each half. The Occidental goalkeeper made six saves in the effort.

The first half began with Melanie Rodriguez starting in goal for Occidental, who faced early pressure from Claremont-M-S. Rodriguez was active, making crucial saves against shots by Riley Zitar and Flora Glantz in the first 13 minutes. Despite the Tigers' defensive efforts, Claremont-M-S broke through with a goal by Alyssa Fang in the 33rd minute, putting them ahead.

Occidental responded with offensive attempts by Allison Bello and Jordyn Tribus, both of which were saved by the opposing goalkeeper, Sadie Brown. The half concluded with the Tigers trailing 1-0.

The second half began with Claremont-M-S pressing offensively, but Rodriguez made key saves to keep Occidental within reach. The Tigers best look to ties came on a Caroline Murdoch attempt off the crossbar in the 82nd minute.

The Athenas put the game out of reach with a goal just over the outstretched leap of Rodriguez in the 87th minute.
