CLAREMONT, Calif. — Occidental fell to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 11-9 at Axelrod Aquatics Center on Wednesday, October 15.
The Stags started strong in the first quarter with three straight goals to jump out ahead. Occidental responded with
Quin Concannon scoring twice, reducing the deficit to 3-2 by the end of the first quarter.Â
The Tigers took a lead in the second after rattling off three-straight goals. The streak capped off after a strike from
Jake Eulenhoefer gave Oxy a 5-3 lead.Â
Coming out the the half, the Stags regained control and took an 8-6 lead heading into the final frame. While the teams traded goals in the fourth, the Tigers couldn't complete the comeback, falling to the No. 1 team in the nation by two.
Quin Concannon led the team with three goals on four attempts.
Lars Schubert was also effective, scoring two goals on two shots.
Travis Hughes contributed one goal and one assist, adding a steal to his ledger.
Jack Schroeder made a defensive impact with six saves in goal.
The Tigers fell to 6-16 on the season and 1-3 in SCIAC play. They're back home on Saturday at 11 a.m. taking on Chapman.
