LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Occidental College emerged victorious over Chapman University with a final score of 15-13 at De Mandel Aquatics Center. The Tigers capitalized on a strong fourth quarter, scoring six goals to secure the win.
Chapman opened the match with a strong start, scoring a flurry of goals to establish a 3-0 lead.Â
The Tigers responded with a goal from
Jake Eulenhoefer, but another Chapman goal extended the Panthers' lead to 4-1.Â
The second quarter saw Occidental rally, as Eulenhoefer scored again, and
Atticus Wahab-Holles added another to tighten the score to 4-3. Chapman maintained their advantage, holding onto a narrow lead heading into halftime.Â
Occidental came alive in the second half, getting within a goal of the Panthers until finally breaking through in the fourth.
Quin Concannon and Eulenhoefer each netted scores in the fourth and
Travis Hughes added a five-meter goal as the Tigers took a late lead.
A close call gave the Tigers a scare at the end of the game.
Jack Schroeder secured a save and the Tigers called a timeout, but before the timeout was granted, Chapman stole the ball from Schroeder and scored to even the game at 13.Â
Eulenhoefer led the offensive effort by scoring four goals on eight shots. Concannon added three goals, converting three of his five attempts.
Travis Hughes contributed with two goals and two assists, creating multiple scoring opportunities.
Max Stone was a defensive standout, recording eight steals during the match.
