10/31/2025 9:45:00 AM

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Men's and women's cross country prepare for the 2025 SCIAC Championships hosted at Strehle Track on the campus of Pomona-Pitzer in Claremont, Calif. The races are set for 8:30 (men) and 9:15 (women) on Saturday, November 1.

MEN'S RACE

After a seventh place finish a season ago, men's cross country is looking to break into the top half of the field.

Jack Elfenbaum is coming off an impressive performance in Illinois at the Augustana Interregional. He placed third out of a field of over 400 runners. He placed 21st a season ago at Carbon Canyon Park.

First year Alireza Tofangdar has emerged as one of the Tigers' top runners. He finished in the top-half at the interregional and was the only other Tiger besides Elfenbaum to run sub-28 on the tough course.

Noe Barraza looks to feed off of a top-30 finish at the Highlander Invitational on October 18. The junior finished in 29th with a time of 26:22.6.

Other runners to likely score will be Owen Voigt and Ethan Chock, with a plethora of Tigers hovering in scoring range. Voigt and Chock are both underclassmen, a sophomore and first year respectively.

Senior Josh Abeyta will take on his final SCIAC Championship race.

WOMEN'S RACE

The women get the late start and look to make a splash, with a large senior class hoping to improve upon a fifth place finish in 2024.

The Tigers' top distance runner and two-time NCAA Championships qualifier, Jenna LeNay sets out to three-peat as a First Team All-SCIAC selection and earn her fourth career distinction – she placed 20th as a first year, inking a second team honor. LeNay placed fifth a season ago.

Jillian Rosset and Megan Cover both placed in the top-30 in last year's race and hope to improve upon their marks of 23:42.4 and 23:59.2.

Jade Weggeman, who fell out of a scoring position last year looks to factor in as she's been one of the Tigers' top runners in her final campaign.

First year Anya Agha is the top young Tiger distance runner. Her best performances have come at The Master's Invite and the Augustana Interregional.

Of the seniors, LeNay, Cover, Weggeman, Rosset, Safia Zavala-Sweet, Mia Ness and Grace Optekar will compete in their final SCIAC Championship races.
