INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Men's soccer will travel to Minneapolis, Minn. to face No. 2 Augsburg on Saturday, November 15 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The match, and weekend, will be hosted at Augsburg University.
After taking down Redlands on November 8, 1-0 in the SCIAC Championship game, the Tigers received the conference's automatic qualifier to the 64-team tournament. It's the Tigers' second time in the last three years reaching the national tournament. Two seasons ago the squad won its first two games, making it to the Sweet Sixteen, where Oxy fell to Amherst.
A tall task ahead as Oxy (10-5-4) will face a 16-2-2 Auggies squad that competes in one of the country's top men's soccer conferences, the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The MIAC houses St. Olaf, the 2023 National Champion — a team that Occidental's
Alex Yu was on prior to transferring to the program.Â
Also in the pod are Gustavus Adolphus, another member of the MIAC, and Edgewood who would await the Tigers should they advance.
