Swim & Dive takes on Caltech in SCIAC opener

PASADENA, Calif. — Occidental College secured multiple event victories, highlighted by Isaac Bassett's win in the men's 1000-yard freestyle and Hayden Hoover's first-place finishes in both the women's 50 and 100-yard freestyle, in a competitive meet against the Caltech on Saturday, November 8.

Occidental College Highlights

Isaac Bassett secured first place in the 1000 Yard Freestyle with a time of 9:57.46 and also placed third in the men's 1-meter diving event.

Connor Grant captured first place in the 100 Yard Freestyle, clocking in at 47.81, and added a second-place finish in the 200 Yard Freestyle.

Hayden Hoover claimed victory in the Women's 50 Yard Freestyle and went on to win the 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 56.33.

Amanda George finished third in the 1000 Yard Freestyle and later secured first place in the 500 Yard Freestyle, posting a time of 5:22.68.

Matthew Avery placed first in the men's 1-meter diving event and also contributed a third-place finish in the 1000 Yard Freestyle.

Relays
- 200 Yard Medley Relay — Occidental College A placed second; Occidental College B finished fifth in 1:22.88.
- 400 Yard Freestyle Relay — Occidental College Relay A finished second; Relay B placed fourth.

Individual Swimming
- 100 Yard Freestyle — Connor Grant claimed first with a finals time of 47.81; Cabot Teskey secured third.
- 500 Yard Freestyle — Amanda George won with a finals time of 5:22.68; Sienna Borchert placed third in 5:30.06.
- 100 Yard Backstroke — Kestrel Linehan finished second in 1:03.27; Kyler Brumfield took third.

Diving
- 1 mtr Diving — Matthew Avery won the event; Isaac Bassett placed third; Ethan Coulthard finished fourth.
- 3 mtr Diving — Violet Schultz secured third place; Riley Kawasaki finished fifth.

The Tigers are back in action on Saturday, November 15 in a double-dual SCIAC meet against Pomona-Pitzer and La Verne.
