LOS ANGELES — Occidental recorded a decisive 15-11 victory over the University of Redlands at De Mandel Aquatics Center. Occidental's offense was bolstered by two penalty shot goals, contributing to their strong performance.
Occidental started the game with a penalty goal from
Travis Hughes, but Redlands responded with a series of four consecutive goals, including two by Jake Simpson, to take a 4-1 lead by the end of the first quarter. Occidental then staged a remarkable comeback in the second quarter, scoring five unanswered goals, with
Lars Schubert contributing two to bring the score to 6-4. The third quarter saw back-and-forth action, with both teams exchanging goals, but Occidental maintained a slim lead at 11-9 after three quarters. In the final period, Occidental extended their advantage with a decisive 4-2 run, sealing the game with a final goal by
Lucas Washburn as time expired, securing a 15-11 victory.
