LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Baseball dropped the final two games of its series against Puget Sound, 8-0 in Saturday's game one and 11-3 in eight innings in the final contest of the set.
Â
Game 1 – L, 8-0
Â
It was a pitchers' duel through the first four innings, with first year
Lincoln Lyons allowing only three hits through four scoreless innings. In the fifth, a lead off double pushed Lyons out of the game and the flood gates opened for the Loggers, scoring three in the frame, then four an inning later.
Â
The Tigers had chances throughout the game but left eight on base. They mustered only four hits, but put the ball in play, striking out just four times.
Â
Game 2 – L, 11-3 – 8 Innings
Â
After 15-straight scorless innings for the Oxy offense, the Tigers showed some promise with the bats, scoring three runs in the seventh.
Taylor Cann, who went 6-for-13 on the series had three hits, including two doubles and two RBI. Cann's seventh inning double drove home a pair with the bases loaded.
Â
First-year
Alejandro Ducreux had a nice weekend as well, going 5-for-10 in the series, playing solid defense in center.
Â
Christian Martinez got the start on the mound. In four-and-two-thirds innings of work he tallied six punchouts.
Jake Moore tossed one-and-two-thirds scoreless innings of relief.
Â
The Tigers are back in action for a single game on Sunday against George Fox. First pitch is set for 11 a.m.
