LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Softball dropped both legs of its doubleheader with WashU on Tuesday, March 11, 12-4 and 15-1.
Â
The Tigers kept it tight through the first four innings of game one. After a scoreless top of the first from
Zada Day-Adams,
Alysha Wagner led off the bottom half with a ringing double off the left field wall. She scored three batters later to give the Tigers the lead.
Â
Oxy fell behind 3-1 in the second, but answered with a pair of runs in the third. An
Anna Kim single reached the wall after a fielding error, helping Wagner score from first. One pitch later,
Sophia Siu hit a sacrifice fly to second base. Kim scored despite the ball being hit into shallow right.
Â
The rest of the day was all Bears, however, outscoring the Tigers 9-1 in the final three innings. Game two was more of the same with WashU crushing a pair of homers.
Â
Isabella Harding hit a homer in game one – her second of the season cleared Bell Field's wall in straight-away center.
Â
The Tigers are back in action on March 12 against Haverford.
