LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Softball split its doubleheader with Susquehanna on Tuesday, March 4, winning game one 3-2 and falling in game two, 18-7 in six innings.
Â
GAME 1 – W, 3-2
Â
With the game on the line and the bases loaded, Phylicia Pedrosa came up to the plate to win it. The first pitch plunked her knee, bringing home the game-winning run to clinch the walk-off victory. Â
Â
Zada Day-Adams was great in the circle, allowing only four hits and two runs. She held the River Hawks to one through the first six innings, but a run in the top of the seventh threatened extras.
Â
In the seventh,
Ava Quezada led off with a pinch-hit walk, then back-to-back singles from
Alysha Wagner and
Anna Kim loaded the bags.
Â
Kim had a stellar game in the opener, robbing a homer and hitting a RBI triple in the first inning. The first year is hitting .425 through her first 13 collegiate.
Â
GAME 2 – L, 18-7 (6 INNINGS)
Â
The Tigers struggled in the circle. Day-Adams was tasked with starting again, but the River Hawks had her number, tacking her for five runs, four earned, through the first two innings.
Isabella Harding tried to clean up the damage in the final four, but saw no success.
Â
Wagner added two hits in the loss, while
Mia Mark picked up a pair of RBIs.
Â
The Tigers are back in action on Friday, March 7, taking on Pitt-Bradford at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
