Occidental Athletics celebrates sixth annual Day for Oxy

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Occidental College held its sixth annual Day for Oxy on Wednesday, April 23. The Day for Oxy is the best way to make an immediate impact on students' lives, learning and ability to thrive.

Occidental Athletics strives to provide a high-class Division III experience for its student-athletes. Tigers not only compete on the competition surface but learn lessons relating to leadership and personal growth among many values.

The All-Sport Challenge, set by Occidental Athletics, sought to receive 750 donations to any of the Tigers' 20 NCAA Division III teams, with hopes of unlocking a $35,000 donation to the Tiger Athletics Fund upon reaching that goal.

The historic donation marked the most ever in the Tiger Athletics Fund – a fund set to impact each team equitably – and something the anonymous donors hope sparks giving to the fund in the future.

"As proud Oxy parents, we want our son and all student athletes to have the support they need to thrive at Oxy," the donors said. "Each team will be stronger when the Occidental athletics program has the equipment, facilities, and staff essential to foster athlete well-being and improve performance. Please join us by making an unrestricted gift to Oxy Athletics to support this goal."

At the end of the Day for Oxy, Tiger Athletics raised $388,033 from 1,002 donors. Thanks to each donor for enhancing the student-athlete experience at Occidental College.
