Men's soccer cruises to comfortable 3-0 win over MIT

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Occidental defeated MIT 3-0 on Sunday at Roberts Field. The Tigers scored twice in the first half and added a third goal in the second half. MIT matched the Tigers with 10 shots but failed to convert any into goals.

Occidental's Joseph Bassett showcased his goalkeeping skills early in the first half, recording three key saves by the 17th minute. Elijah Edelman opened the scoring for the Tigers with a goal in the 19th minute, assisted by Alexander Yu. Aiden Aley extended the lead to 2-0 with a goal in the 29th minute, capitalizing on a moment where the Engineers' keeper was out of position.

The second half began with a decisive moment for Occidental as Ayden Rieke-Wey found the back of the net in the 65th minute, assisted by Edelman, marking Ayden's second goal of the season. Bassett was instrumental in maintaining the team's defensive strength, making key saves, including a save against a shot from Keegan Harrison at the 68-minute mark. Despite several fouls and offside calls, the Tigers held their ground, ultimately securing a 3-0 victory against MIT.
