LOS ANGELES — Occidental College blanked Whittier College 2-0 on Wednesday at W.C. Patterson Field. Occidental secured the victory with two first-half goals, maintaining a shutout with zero shots on goal allowed. The defense stifled Whittier's offense, limiting them to seven total shots, none of which were on target.

Mia Merkelbach opened the scoring in the 14th minute, providing an initial lead for the home team. Occidental continued to build momentum, with Kylie Jones doubling the advantage in the 29th minute with a beautifully placed goal, assisted by
Allison Bello, making it 2-0. Despite several attempts, including two saved shots by Mya Rodriguez, Occidental maintained pressure throughout the half. The first half concluded with Occidental leading 2-0 over Whittier.
The second half began with Occidental maintaining a 2-0 lead established in the first half. Whittier applied early pressure with multiple corner kicks and shots, but Occidental's defense held firm to preserve the scoreline.
