Men's hoops drops game on the road in Redlands

REDLANDS, Calif. — Occidental College (14-4, 7-2 SCIAC) fell to the University of Redlands (16-2, 8-1 SCIAC) 93-75 on Saturday at Currier Gym. Despite the Tigers' 50.0 percent shooting from the field, the Bulldogs capitalized on turnovers, turning them into 31 points. Both teams entered this contest on a win-streak as the Tigers had won their last 5 games and the Bulldogs had won their last 7 games. 

Oxy opened the game with a competitive start, trading leads with the Bulldogs in the early minutes. Luna contributed significantly by scoring a series of jumpers, keeping his team within striking distance. Despite trailing, the Tigers managed to tie the game at 30 with 4:01 remaining, thanks to a layup by Boba. However, Redlands responded with a quick surge, extending their advantage in the final minutes. The first half concluded with Occidental trailing 42-35.

Occidental began the second half with a surge, narrowing the gap to 46–41 following a 3-pointer by Noble at 17:46. Despite efforts from Brown, who contributed significantly with a jumper and fast-break layup, the Tigers struggled to maintain momentum against Redlands' scoring pace. Redlands widened their lead to 21 points by 3:45, creating a challenging deficit for Occidental. The half concluded with a score of 93–75 in favor of Redlands, securing their victory.

Brown led with 16 points, shooting 7-for-11 from the field and grabbing seven rebounds. Clotfelter added 17 points, converting 7 of 11 field goals and collecting two rebounds. Koretz contributed with seven points while dishing out six assists and making three steals. Luna posted 11 points, including one 3-pointer, and secured five rebounds.

The Tigers now hold a 14-4 overall record and a 7-2 record in SCIAC play. The Bulldogs stand at 16-2 overall, with an 8-1 mark in SCIAC competition.

Looking ahead, the Tigers will face off against Caltech on Saturday, Jan. 31. As the home team, Occidental will host the game in Los Angeles, California, with tip-off set for 2 p.m.
