PASADENA, Calif. — Occidental College (1-7) secured a decisive 13-2 victory over California Institute of Technology (1-2) on Saturday at Braun Pool. The Tigers dominated the match with a consistent offensive effort, scoring in every quarter and allowing only two goals in the second quarter.
Occidental began the game with a strong offensive showing, as
Emma Wilderman scored, followed by
Isabella Wilde and
Victoria Duncan, building a 3-0 lead. Wilde added another goal, ending the first quarter at 4-0.Â
In the second quarter, Wilderman scored again, but Caltech responded with Maya Dickson's goal, bringing the score to 5-1. The Tigers'
Emma (Ferg) Merrill extended the lead, and
Lucy Worden added another, closing the first half at 7-2.Â
The third quarter saw Occidental continue to dominate, with goals from
Ruby Vogel and Duncan, expanding the lead to 10-2. The Tigers sealed their victory with two more goals in the final quarter, finishing with a 13-2 win. Occidental outshot the Beavers 28-20, capitalizing on two power-play opportunities.
Wilde led the Tigers with three goals, showcasing her efficiency in front of the net. Duncan contributed significantly with two goals and three assists, while also adding two steals and a block to her performance. Worden delivered two goals and an assist, demonstrating her ability to both score and facilitate. Wilderman scored twice on two attempts, maintaining a perfect shooting record for the match.
The Tigers picked up their first win of the season and begin SCIAC play perfect.
