LOS ANGELES — Occidental (5-4, 1-2 SCIAC) fell to Claremont-M-S (4-2, 2-1 SCIAC) with a final score of 16-0 on Sunday at Anderson Field.
Claremont-M-S took an early and commanding lead in the first inning thanks to multiple homes runs, and the Tigers would fail to string together hits to mount a rally.
Occidental's third inning saw
Antonio Longobardi reach base with a single, but the team could not score. The Stags were kept scoreless in their half, maintaining a 14-0 lead through three innings.
The game concluded with both teams going scoreless in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings. Claremont-M-S secured a decisive 16-0 victory over Occidental to win the 3-game series.
Jackson Short recorded one hit in his two at-bats, and Longobardi contributed both offensively with one hit from two at-bats and defensively with three assists in the field.
Alejandro Ducreux reached base twice with two walks.
Occidental now has a record of 5-4 and is 1-2 in the SCIAC. Claremont-M-S has a record of 4-2 and is 2-1 in the SCIAC. The Tigers will look to bounce back in their next matchup of Friday, February 27th against the Caltech Beavers at Anderson Field. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00pm.
