LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Men's basketball continues its run on the SCIAC tournament tonight at No. 1 Redlands. Here's everything you need to know about the SCIAC Semifinals.

THE REMAINING FIELD

No. 1 Redlands Bulldogs (13-3)
No. 2 Claremont-M-S Stags (13-3)
No. 3 Chapman Panthers (11-5)
No. 4 Occidental Tigers (11-5)

HOW WE GOT HERE
The Tigers reached the SCIAC Semifinals with an 88-84 win over Cal Lutheran on Wednesday, February 25. The Tigers led by as many as 19 in the second half, but the Kingsmen chipped away and eventually cut the deficit to two. A pair of Nasir Luna free throws sealed the deal as the Tigers won their first SCIAC Tournament game since 2018-19.

Redlands earned the first seed after claiming the head-to-head tiebreaker over CMS with a pair of victories during the regular season. The Bulldogs are led by the fifth-best offense in the nation, scoring over 94 points per game.

Claremont-M-S was solid all season, but a loss at Chapman looms large as the two meet for a rubber match tonight.

Chapman is a perplexing squad, going 12-2 at home, including an impressive 8-0 stint in conference play in Hutton Sports Center. However, a 5-6 road record plagues the Panthers and could prove the deciding factor in the Claremont semi.

A LOOK BACK AT ROUND ONE

The Tigers led from tip to the final whistle, but the Kingsmen made it difficult at the end, scoring 45 of their points in the final 15 minutes of the game.

Nasir Luna led the way offensively, scoring 24 points, sinking 10-of-12 from the free throw line. The First Team All-SCIAC selection was impressive in the absence of fellow first teamer Alex McCleery Brown.

A myriad of Tigers scored in double figures, including Peter Noble who went 3-for-6 from three and scored 11 off the bench. Perry Rainey and Jacob Koretz each added 10. Atticus Boba was instrumental on the glass and as a facilitator, scoring nine points, grabbing seven boards and assisting on two buckets while not turning the ball over.

SCOUTING THE DAWGS

The Bulldogs high-powered offense, led by SCIAC Player of the Year Lucas Gordon, has been on fire since their last loss to the Tigers on February 14. They earned a 91-69 win over CMS on the road, then defeated Whittier 86-82 on their senior night.

Redlands fires off the 13th-most three pointers in the country per game, 31. Their deep attack helped them score 148 points, including 88 in the second half alone.

The Bulldogs have scored 100 or more points in a game nine times this season and have won each of those meetings.
