LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Occidental College (3-14, 0-6) faced a tough weekend, falling to the University of Redlands (15-5, 5-1) in both games at Bell Field. In the first game, the Tigers lost 11–4, and in the second, they were shut out 6–0.
In the first game, Occidental managed 10 hits, including a double, but could not overcome a six-run third inning from Redlands. The game began quietly with no runs scored in the first two innings. However, Redlands seized control in the third, scoring six runs. Katlyn Gandara singled to the pitcher, driving in two runs, and Adyson Kim tripled to right center for two more RBIs, giving the Bulldogs a 6–0 lead.
Occidental responded in the fifth inning with a rally.
Sam Palacio reached third on a fielding error, allowing
Anna Kim to bring him home with a sacrifice fly.
Jordan Lebsock followed up with a single to center field, scoring two more runs and reducing the Bulldogs' lead to 8–3. In the sixth inning, Occidental added another run when Palacio doubled and
Reagan Rosenthal singled him home. However, Redlands responded with three more runs in the sixth, finalizing the score at 11–4.
Lebsock drove in two runs with two hits, while Palacio scored twice and added a double. Rosenthal recorded two hits and an RBI, and
Anna Kim contributed with a sacrifice fly.
In the second game, Occidental struggled offensively, managing only two hits, one of which was a double. The Bulldogs took the lead in the third inning when Brooklyn Bard tripled to center field and scored on a fielding error. Leila Gomez followed with a single, stole two bases, and was driven in by a double from Gandara, making it 3–0. Redlands extended its lead in the sixth inning with a three-run homer by Gandara, concluding the game at 6–0.
Anna Kim recorded a double in her three at-bats, and
Alysha Wagner added a hit in her three appearances, showcasing some consistency despite the tough loss.
Jacynda Lindsay pitched a complete game for Occidental, throwing 7 innings and striking out two batters.
Occidental is now 3-14 overall and 0-6 in conference play, while Redlands stands at 15-5 overall and leads their conference with a 5-1 record.
