Track & Field shines at SCIAC Quad Cup Qualifier

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Track & Field competed at the SCIAC Quad Cup Qualifier over the weekend, placing second and earning a spot in the SCIAC Quad Cup Championship.
 
In the events' second year, the Tigers earn their first trip to the Championship. They competed at the consolation meet a season ago.
 
The women's team earned a mirage of first place finishes at Bill Henry Track. Emma Shiffler won the 200, running 25.83. Phoebe Ogden won the 400 (56.70) and was apart of the victorious 4x4 (Ogden, Delphine Way, Elizabeth Hawley and Amelia Vena) team that ran 3:53.43.
 
Way earned a victory in the 800, blowing away the competition at 2:15.67.
 
Around the field, Kayla Sepulveda earned a third place finish in the shot put and seventh in discuss.
 
The Oxy men shined on the track with James Buellesbach earning a victory in the 110 hurdles. He placed second in the 400 hurdles later in the day.
 
Shane Kawakami-Williams and Zach McGraw had nice showings in the 100 and 200 respectively. Kawakami-Williams placed second, and McGraw finished in third.
 
Jack Elfenbaum led all distance runners with a fourth-place finish in the 1500. 4:01.92.
 
Maurice Romanyshyn earned a second-place mark in the javelin, throwing it 50.64 meters. Oliver Yue and Jordan Chau each finished second in their events, the long jump and high jump. Chau cleared 1.85 on the high jump and Yue went 6.66m on the long jump.
