LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Kent Ortiz was named SCIAC Offensive Athlete of the Week on Monday, September 14.
 
Ortiz scored two goals on Sunday, September 13 as the Tigers knocked off Kenyon 2-0. The Owls, who had outscored opponents 13-1 and were 4-0 coming into the match up, had no answer for Ortiz as he netted both his shots on goal.
 
His first goal came in the 40^th minute and was assisted by Cristian Granados. The ball came out of the box, getting away from the Kenyon keeper who tried to sweep it away in dangerous territory. Granados poked it in Ortiz's direction for the score.
 
His second goal was in the 78^th minute. The Tigers won the battle in the midfield and Elijah Edelman found Ortiz behind him. While the first goal was a high bender, the second one slipped through on the ground past Kenyon's goalie.
 
Ortiz and the Tigers are back in action at Jack Kemp Stadium on September 16 for the SCIAC home opener. It's a SCIAC semifinals rematch against La Verne to open conference play.
