Reiner Kolodinski '81 M'01 P'10 played basketball at El Camino Junior College for two years before transferring to Occidental in fall 1978. In the 1979-80 season, the Tigers won the SCIAC championship with an 11-1 conference mark and advanced to the NCAA Division III Western Regional playoffs, with Kolodinski leading the way as team MVP. A 5'11" point guard, he was selected as All-SCIAC second team in 1979, and All-SCIAC first team and All-District in 1980. After graduating from Oxy, Kolodinski played pro basketball in Germany for two years with ASC Göttingen in the Basketball Bundesliga, the country's premier basketball league, and was a member of the 1983 German championship team. After returning to California, he worked in business for 16 years before pivoting to teaching at Duarte and Glendale high schools, retiring in 2022. He also worked with Coach Brian Newhall '83's Tigers as an assistant for many years and coached boys' and girls' high school basketball at Duarte and Glendale, respectively.
