ANGELES, Calif. (Oct. 10, 2008) – In
non-conference action tonight at Rush Gymnasium, Occidental College
defeated West Coast Baptist College 3-0 marking the Tigers'
third win in fourth matches.
Oxy
handled the Eagles easily, winning by scores of 25-14, 25-12 and
25-19.
The freshman-sophomore duo
of Gwynne Davis (9) and
Kathryn Bockmon (7) combined for 16 kills with
junior teammate Nyki Dedic adding four in the win.
Ginger Grimes and
Lisa Fukuzato led the way for the Tigers with 13
assists and digs, respectively. Additionally, Fukuzato had a
match-high five service aces while Davis and Bockmon had two aces
apiece. Dedic and Grimes each recorded four digs as well.
WCBC was led by nine kills from Carmen Lopez
and eight digs from Elizabeth Marks.
With the win the Tigers improve to 4-6 on the
season. The two teams will meet again on Monday evening when Oxy
travels to Lancaster, Calif. to play on the Eagles' home
court at 7:00 p.m.
