ANGELES, Calif. (Oct. 28, 2008) – For
the third time consecutive match Ashley Rosenbaum has been a threat
at the net, tonight recording five solo blocks in the Tigers'
3-0 victory over the Caltech Beavers on Tuesday in Southern
California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action.
In the 25-15, 25-12, 25-17 victory,
Kathryn Bockmon led the Tigers and tied with Lisa
Yee for the lead in kills with eight. Nyki Dedic
was right behind with seven while freshman Gwynne
Davis tallied five. Davis added a match-high three service
aces as well. Ginger Grimes had two aces for the
Tigers.
Lisa Fukuzato recorded a
match high 10 kills while Grimes and Jamie Nikami
split the role as setter, recording 15 and 10 assists,
respectively. Bockmon added a pair of block assists as well.
Occidental improves to 6-9 overall, 3-8 in
SCIAC play and remains in sixth place.
Thursday evening the Tigers will host the La
Sierra Golden Eagles in non-conference action at 7:00 p.m. in Rush
Gymnasium to kick off a four-match home stand to round out the 2008
season.
