THOUSAND OAKS — The Occidental College softball team's tough season got a little tougher at Hutton Field on Friday. The Tigers (4-20, 2-14 SCIAC) squandered a pair of two-run leads in each game of their doubleheader at Cal Lutheran (10-22, 3-13 SCIAC), losing both games in the late innings.

GAME 1: Cal Lutheran 5, Occidental 3

Brittany Vacura (Elk Grove) had one of her best performances all year from the circle and the Occidental College softball team was one out away from winning Game 1, but Shannon Tinsley hit a three-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh inning, erasing Oxy's 3-2 lead to give the Regals a 5-3 win.

Vacura had given up just two earned runs, struck out four and even helped her cause offensively by singling in Patricia Phillimeano (Roseville) for the game's first run in the top of the fourth.

In the seventh, the 5-foot-6 junior worked her way to two outs and a full count in the seventh before the Regals ignited a two-out rally for the win.

Tinsley finished 2 for 4 with the homer and three RBIs for Cal Lu.

Kristine Kocjan (Redwood City) brought in Jacqueline Shimamoto on a fielder's choice for the Tigers' second run in the fifth and singled in Ashley Noone (Orange) for their third in the seventh, putting Oxy up 3-1.

The Regals hit two singles and a double, along with Tinsley's bomb for a four-run inning in their last turn at the plate.

Shonna Christianson earned the win for the Regals, pitching all seven innings with three strikeouts and two earned runs.

Shimamoto, Noone, Phillimeano and Vacura each finished with a pair of hits for the Tigers.

GAME 2: Cal Lutheran 5, Occidental 2

Jerika Barron (Half Moon Bay) had an RBI-double to bring home Shimamoto, then Nicole Hannasch (Canyon Country) brought in Barron, giving Oxy a 2-0 lead in the top of the first they for most of the game.

But Cal Lu rallied for five runs on five hits in the bottom of the sixth for its second comeback-victory of the day.

Amber Garland (Torrance) pitched 5.2 innings with three earned runs in a losing effort for the Tigers. Cal Lu reliever Katelyn Downing earned the win, throwing four scoreless innings.

Noone was 2 for 3 for Oxy.
