Box Score

ELMHURST, Ill. — The Occidental College women's volleyball team capped its four-match Chicago trip with three-set win over Buena Vista on Saturday, making it a 3-1 weekend against some very tough opponents.

Led by Stephanie Gann and Dana Michels, who each racked up 43 kills on the weekend, the Tigers went 3-1 to start the season against four teams with a combined 2012 record of 83-56.

Against Buena Vista, Michels had a match-high 14 kills and Gann had 13.

Gann was named to the All-Tournament team.

Oxy also earned victories over St. Norbert and Coe College. The only Tigers loss came to host and national No. 4 Elmhurst College.

"I'm very proud of the effort our team gave all weekend," Oxy head coach Heather Collins said. "We played some good competition and we were in some tough situations, but we managed to always stay poised. We still need to continue getting better, but I'm happy with the direction we are headed in."

Oxy has another four-match tournament at Cal Lutheran next weekend.
