Tigers Cruise Past Caltech on Senior Day

Box Score

LOS ANGELESMegan Olayinka recorded five kills and five block assists in her final match at Occidental and Claire Strohm led the way with eight kills, as the Tigers cruised past Caltech in their season finale on Saturday.

Oxy finishes the season 6-20 overall and 4-12 in SCIAC.

Olayinka and the Tigers took their lumps during the 2014 season with a very young squad. As the lone senior, Olayinka's role was to mentor 11 underclassmen, including nine freshmen.

"Mego has been an outstanding member of our volleyball program throughout her career," Oxy head coach Heather Collins said. "Her leadership this season was fantastic and while we're sad to see her go, I'm very confident that she'll excel at whatever she does in the future."

She was also pretty good defensively at the net, recording 77 block assists and six solo blocks on the season.

The Tigers were able to keep Caltech in single digits in Games 2 and 3.

Kandace Korver had four service aces and Cassandra Guidice and Erin Matsumoto each had two.
