Box Score LOS ANGELES — Claire Strohm had another big match from the outside and setter Sarah Beene was aggressive on dump shots, leading the Occidental women's volleyball team to a 3-1 win over Redlands at Rush Gym on Tuesday.
Set Scores: 25-15, 25-18, 25-27, 25-19
Season Impact: Oxy is red hot, winning its fifth match in a row and sixth of its last seven to improve to 8-8 overall and 4-5 in SCIAC play. Oxy is now one game back of Whittier for fourth place in the standings.
Redlands falls to 5-13 and 1-9.
Strohm, who is second in the SCIAC in kills per set, finished with 13 kills on .200 hitting. She had five kills in the first set and came on strong in the fourth with three to help the Tigers hold off the Bulldogs.
Beene played every point, finishing with 42 assists to go along with eight kills, including match point.
Allie Sundara had nine kills and Shaylee Warner and Amanda Herold each added eight for Oxy. Libero Kandace Korver had 19 digs.
The Tigers looked in complete control of the match until Redlands went on a big run in Game 3, stunning Oxy to force a Game 4.
The Bulldogs were led by Emma Bottger who had 15 kills.
