Box Score LOS ANGELES — Sabrina Degnan and the Occidental women's volleyball team gave No. 10 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps a scare before falling 3-1 in their final home game of the season at Rush Gymnasium on Tuesday.
Set Scores: 25-7, 17-25, 25-16, 25-22
Degnan had a team-high nine kills and 15 digs, swinging hard on nearly every attack for a handful of powerful kills. Amanda Herold had seven kills and Allie Sundara and Cassandra Guidice each had six. Oxy setter Sarah been had a solid game with four kills, 26 assists and seven digs.
The Athenas were led by Nicole Kerkhof who had 12 kills.
With the score tied at 21-21 in Game 4, it looked like the young Tigers might put the pressure on the Athenas and force a Game 5. But CMS rattled off four of the next five points to improve to 22-5 overall and 12-2.
Season Impact: Oxy falls to 9-14 overall and 5-10 in SCIAC play, and is eliminated from contention for the four-team SCIAC Postseason Tournament.
Next Game: The Tigers finish the season at Chapman on Oct. 31 at 6 p.m.
