LOS ANGELES — Amanda Herold led Oxy with 10 kills on .321 hitting, including six kills when the Tigers took control of the match in the second set, leading the Occidental women's volleyball team to a 3-0 win over UC Santa Cruz in the first match of a non-conference doubleheader on Saturday.

Set Scores: 25-22, 27-25, 25-14

Claire Strohm added nine kills, Allie Sundara had seven and Shaylee Warner chipped in six. Oxy setter Tiareh Cruz had 20 assists and an impressive run of four aces in a row in the third set.

After a competitive Game 1, Oxy crushed any hopes UC Santa Cruz had of getting back in the match, coming from down 24-22 at one point to win in extra points.

Maya Lloyd led the Banana Slugs with 13 kills.

Next Match: The Tigers play West Coast Baptist in the second match of their doubleheader at 4 p.m. on Saturday. West Coast Baptist lost to UC Santa Cruz in a neutral site match prior to Oxy's first match.

The Tigers will resume SCIAC play on Tuesday at home against Chapman.
