LOS ANGELES — Dallas Boyce gave up no earned runs and struck out one in six innings of work and Alex Battest had three hits, but errors cost the Tigers early as they dropped two games to Pomona-Pizter at home on Saturday.

The Tigers drop to 5-15 and 2-10. Pomona-Pitzer improves to 10-12 and 5-7.

Game 1: Pomona-Pitzer 11, Occidental 1

The Sagehens capitalized in the second inning scoring six runs off three hits and two errors. With the bases loaded, Kelsey Buchanan reached on a drop fly ball that emptied the bases.

Oxy threatened in the bottom of the inning with Kaitlin Cappetto advancing to first after being hit by a pitch and Olivia Thayer reaching on a fielder's choice. Left fielder Dallas Gunny stepped up next, doubling to left to score Cappetto and put the Tigers on the board. But Sagehen pitcher Emily Rockhill forced Mackensie Priley to ground out, ending the inning.

Pomona-Pitzer took advantage on two Oxy errors in the top of the six and added another four runs off three hits to put the final at 11-1.

Game 2: Pomona-Pitzer 4, Occidental 3

The Tigers looked much better in game two as their defense sharpened up and their bats started to wake up.

Oxy switched roles and took advantage of a Sagehen error in the bottom of the first inning. With Samantha Yee rounding third base, Pomona-Pitzer second baseman Meagan Tokun's throw sailed over the first baseman's head allowing Yee to cross the plate giving the Tigers an early 1-0 lead.

After Pomona-Pitzer took the lead in the top of the second, Battest evened the game with a single to center field that scored Yee. Boyce followed it up with a RBI double to retake the lead at 3-2.

The Sagehens evened the game in the sixth, and took the lead for good in the top of the seventh on a  Buchanan RBI.

Olivia Thayer had a solid performance in the circle, pitching a complete game with a strike out and only three earned runs.

Next Game: The Tigers return to action tomorrow afternoon in a non-conference doubleheader against Williams College at 12 pm and 2 pm.
