Box Score 2 LOS ANGELES — Samantha Yee left the yard and the Occidental College softball team hung in with a talented Williams College squad, but they couldn't quiet the Ephs' offense as they dropped two at Bell Field.
In a match-up of academically prestigious liberal arts colleges, the William College Ephs opened their season at Oxy in the first of a fifteen game west coast tour.
Yee highlighted the day for the Tigers, hitting a solo shot over the left field wall for her first career home run, in the bottom of the fourth inning of game one.
Yee finished the game 2 for 2, and Kaitlin Cappetto followed suit getting hits in both her at bats.
Alex Battest led the Tigers in game two, singling to right center to score Mackensie Priley to give Oxy an early 1-0 lead. Battest leads the Tigers with 13 RBIs and .400 batting average.
Dallas Boyce got the start in game one, pitching five innings with three strikeouts, and Cappetto pitched seven innings in game two, striking out one.
The Ephs got hot in game one, totalling eleven hits in the the top of the fifth, and scoring all their runs in the inning.
Game 1: Williams 12, Occidental 1
Game 2: Williams 7, Occidental 1
Next Game: Oxy travels travels to Redlands next Saturday to face the Bulldogs in a doubleheader. Game one starts at noon.
