Box Score LOS ANGELES — Dallas Boyce went 3 for 4, Samantha Yee homered to center field and the Occidental College softball team led the Regals going into the final inning.
But Cal Lutheran got hot late in the game, pulling ahead of the Tigers for a 7-4 victory in Game 2 of a doubleheader at Bell Field on Friday.
The Tigers and Regals split the series with Oxy winning the first game 7-6 in 10 innings.
Oxy gained momentum in the bottom of the fourth inning with Morgan Giusti singling to left field to bring in Alex Battest. Battest was the hero in Game 1, hitting a Grand slam to give the Tigers the lead.
Kaitlin Capetto brought in Boyce on a sacrifice fly and Dallas Gunny finished off the inning with a single to left field to score Giusti.
Cal Lutheran fought back in the final inning, starting with Hannah Brown scoring on a throwing error. The Regals kept rolling, finishing the inning with five runs and six hits to pull ahead 7-3.
The Tigers showed some life in the bottom of the inning with Yee hitting a solo shot to over the center field fence and Boyce singling to center to batters later, but the rally fell short.
Olivia Thayer pitched 6.1 innings with three strikeouts, and Cappetto finished the final inning in the circle for the Tigers.
Next Game: The Tigers head to Whittier tomorrow afternoon to face the Poets. Game 1 begins at noon.
