Strohm Racks Up 22 Kills in Road Win

REDLANDS — Occidental women's volleyball sophomore Claire Strohm racked up a match-high 22 kills, 21 digs and three service aces, leading the Tigers to a 3-1 win at Redlands in their SCIAC opener on Friday.

Strohm, Oxy's leading hitter as a first year last season, hit an impressive .372.

Amanda Herold also had a big night attacking with 13 kills, Allie Sundara added 10 and Shaylee Warner put away seven.

The Tigers fell in the first set, before rallying for three straight.

Sarah Beene led Oxy with 28 assists and Tiareh Cruz added 23. 

Kailee McCoy and Kaylee Burdick led Redlands with 11 kills each.

The Tigers improve to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in SCIAC play.

Redlands falls to 3-5 and 0-2.

Next Match: The Tigers face Pomona-Pitzer in their home opener on Saturday at 6 p.m.
