LOS ANGELES — The Occidental women's volleyball team put together a season-best 14 aces on its way to a 3-0 win over Redlands at Rush Gymnasium on Tuesday.

Set Scores: 25-19, 25-19, 25-23

Season Impact: The Tigers improve to 8-9 overall and 5-4 in SCIAC play. With seven regular season SCIAC matches to play, Oxy occupies the fourth and final playoff spot in the SCIAC standings.

Redlands falls to 11-8 and 2-7.

Players of the Match: Despite playing under the weather, Oxy's Cassandra Guidice had a great night attacking from the middle of the court, putting away seven kills on .462 hitting.

Sabrina Degnan led Oxy with nine kills.

Redlands' best effort came from Sofia Olsson, who had a game-high 10 kills. 

Turning Point: Hannah Wagner had four consecutive aces to give Oxy a 19-16 lead in Game 2. The Tigers fed off the momentum and surrendered just one more point on their way to a 2-0 lead in the match.

Getting Even: Oxy didn't fare well in its first meeting with the Bulldogs earlier this season, falling 3-0 on the road.

Oxy's Ace: The Tigers dominated the match from the serve. Wagner and Strohm each had four aces, Tiareh Cruz had three, Guidice had two and Degnan had one.

Game 1: With the score tied at 18, Guidice put down a hard kill on a quick set from Tiareh Cruz, igniting a 7-1 run to finish the set. Amanda Herold led Oxy with five kills in the set.

Game 2: Wagner's run of four consecutive aces put Oxy up 19-16 and the Tigers took control of the game. Degnan led Oxy with four kills in the set.

Game 3: Strohm had a run of three aces as the Tigers jumped out to a 14-7 lead. The Bulldogs were able to recover and take a 22-20 lead. Strohm tied the game with another ace at 22, Wagner gave Oxy a 24-23 lead with a kill and then a Redlands attacking error finished off the match. 

Next Match: The Tigers play an important road match at Chapman on Friday at 7 p.m.
