Box Score LOS ANGELES — Tiareh Cruz had 21 assists and six service aces as the Occidental women's volleyball team beat Caltech 3-0 on Senior Night at Rush Gym on Friday.
Amanda Herold led Oxy with 11 kills on .611 hitting, and Cassandra Guidice and Ana Young both chipped in six kills.
Lauren Li led Caltech with six kills.
Season Impact: The Tigers improve to 10-14 overall and 6-9 in SCIAC play. Oxy finishes its season at Whittier on Saturday at 6 p.m.
Caltech falls to 2-20 and 0-15.
Senior Day: The Tigers honored Cruz, the team's captain and setter, with a brief pregame ceremony. Cruz has totaled 1,399 assists in 83 matches and 250 sets.
She has also been the Oxy Female Strength and Conditioning Female Athlete of the Year and Oxy Volleyball's ACE award winner for attitude, concentration and effort.
Off the court, Cruz has been the leader of Oxy's student-athlete advisory committee and was selected to attend the 2017 NCAA Division III Immersion program in January.
After graduating this spring with a degree in psychology and a minor in kinesiology, she plans to attend graduate school for sports psychology.
