Box Score LOS ANGELES -- Cora Roberts was an RBI machine, Alex Battest extended her hitting streak to eight games and first year starter Madison Romero had another fantastic outing as the Occidental softball team beat Cal Lutheran 5-1 in Game 2 of a doubleheader with the Regals at Bell Field on Saturday.
Season Impact: Oxy improves to 7-13 and 3-7 in SCIAC play.
CLU goes to 9-10 and 4-6.
Romero went the distance, giving up just one earned run and seven total baserunners in the complete game effort. The rookie from Paso Robles has won three of her four starts this season and has a team-best 3.54 earned run average among qualified pitchers.
Roberts finished 3 for 4 with three RBIs and a double. She drove in two during a three-run first inning and then another in the fourth.
Battest was 1 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored. She is 15 for her last 25 at the plate.
Kira Elliott was 1 for 3 with two runs scored for Oxy.
Next Game: The Tigers play a non-conference doubleheader against Willamette on Sunday. Game 1 starts at noon.
Oxy returns to SCIAC play at Whittier on March 26.
