Box Score THOUSAND OAKS — Madison Romero and Bailey Stevens each hit solo home runs, but the Occidental softball team couldn't hang on to a one-run lead, losing 4-3 at Cal Lutheran in Game 1 of a doubleheader on Saturday.
Romero hit a homer to left center in the top of the fourth, giving Oxy a 2-1 lead.
Cora Roberts drove in Oxy's first run with a single up the middle to tie the game at 1-1 in the third.
Romero finished 2 for 3 and Roberts went 2 for 4.
Oxy held its lead until the bottom of the fifth when the Regals put together a three-run inning to go up 4-2.
Stevens hit her team-best sixth homer of the season with a blast to center in the top of the sixth, cutting the lead to one run.
Mackensie Priley led off the seventh with a single, but the Tigers couldn't manage to get her around for the tying run.
Alexis Funaki pitched all six innings for Oxy, striking out three, while giving up just a pair of earned runs.
Courtney Sooy also went the distance and got the win for Cal Lu, giving up three runs.
Season Impact: Oxy falls to 10-25 overall and 6-17 in SCIAC play.
Cal Lutheran improves to 14-20 and 8-15.
