Box Score 2 THOUSAND OAKS — Alexis Funaki was outstanding in the circle again, and Natalie Glover and Nyla Gatison had big days at the plate, leading the Occidental softball team past Cal Lutheran, 6-1 in Game 2 of a doubleheader on Saturday.
Trailing 3-0 in the seventh in Game 1, Oxy rallied for two runs in the seventh, but couldn't complete the comeback, falling 3-2.
Funaki won her fifth game of the year, pitching a complete game, with one earned run, four hits and one walk. She also struck out two batters and went 1 for 4 with an RBI-single during Oxy's five-run top of the second inning that put the Tigers in the driver's seat. She was 2 for 4 with a pair of doubles in Game 1.
Fuanki is second in the SCIAC with a 1.13 earned run average in 31 conference innings.
Glover was 3 for 7 with four RBIs, a double and two runs scored on the day. She ignited Oxy's five-run inning in Game 2 with a bases-clearing double that brought home three runs.
Gatison, a first year from San Leandro, went 5 for 9 with a run and two stolen bases. She was 3 for 5 in Oxy's win.
Gatison is leading the SCIAC in hitting at .469.
Cora Roberts also had an outstanding day, going 4 for 8 with a run scored.
Dallas Boyce had a solid outing as the Tigers' starter in Game 1, giving up just one earned run in six innings of work.
Season Impact: Oxy is now 5-13 overall and 3-7 in SCIAC play.
Cal Lutheran goes to 6-10 and 4-6.
Next Game: The Tigers are back in action with a home doubleheader against Pomona-Pitzer on March 25.
