Box Score 2 LOS ANGELES — The Occidental softball team dropped a pair of games to Williams in a non-conference doubleheader at Bell Field on Sunday.
The Tigers fell 9-6 in Game 1, and 3-0 in Game 2.
Alexis Funaki had a big day for the Tigers, going 3 for 6 with a home run, two RBIs and a run scored. She started and pitched all seven innings in Game 2, giving up just three earned runs in a solid outing.
Center fielder Nyla Gatison went 2 for 3 with an RBI, a pair of runs scored and two stolen bases for Oxy in Game 1. Shortstop Cora Roberts was 2 for 3 with a stolen base, a double and a run scored and Bailey Stevens went 1 for 3 with a solo home run and two RBIs.
The score was tied at 5-5 before Williams rallied for three runs in the top of the sixth to jump out in front, 9-5. Oxy scored one run but the bottom of the sixth.
The Tigers ran into a good pitcher in Game 2, managing just three hits. Williams starter Rebecca Duncan pitched all seven innings, striking out six for the win.
Season Impact: The Tigers fall to 7-15 overall.
Williams improves to 7-5.
Next Game: The Tigers return to SCIAC play at Whittier for a doubleheader on April 1. Game 1 is scheduled for noon.
