Box Score 2 LOS ANGELES — The Occidental softball team split a home doubleheader with Chapman on Saturday.
The Tigers fell 6-3 in the first game and won the second 4-3 in dramatic fashion.
Trailing 3-2 with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Cora Roberts doubled to bring home Natalie Glover and Madison Romero, giving the Tigers a walk-off victory.
Its the second time this season they've won it in the seventh.
Alexis Funaki earned the win, pitching all seven innings with three earned runs and three strikeouts.
Samantha Whalen went 6.2 innings and was charged with the loss.
Oxy fell too far behind in Game 1 and was never able to recover.
Oxy outfielder Nyla Gatison had an outstanding day, going 4 for 7 in both games, with a pair of runs scored and two stolen bases. Roberts finished 3 for 7 with a pair of doubles and three RBIs and Funaki was 3 for 6 with a double and two RBIs.
Season Impact: The Tigers improve to 3-11 overall and 1-5 in SCIAC.
Chapman falls to 7-5 and 5-3.
Next Game: The Tigers face Redlands in a home doubleheader on March 11.
