CLAREMONT — Cassie Carter had a big day and the Occidental softball team was competitive at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, but fell in a pair of road games.
Carter, sophomore Biology major from Sammamish, Wash., went 3 for 7 with two RBIs, rwo runs scored and a double on the day.
Oxy was edged 7-6 in Game 1 and fell 6-1 in Game 2.
The Tigers led 6-0 at one point after the top of the third, but CMS chipped away, eventually tying the game with a three-run sixth, and winning it on single by Maddie Valdez in the seventh. Nyla Gatison went 1 for 3 with a run scored, Madison Romero went 1 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored, Stephanie Stamnes went 1 for 2 with an RBI, and Natalie Glover was 1 for 3 with a run scored.
Nyla Gatison, Ariana Granda, Bailey Stevens and Cora Roberts all singled in Game 2. Natalie Glover doubled in Oxy's only run.
Oxy falls to 5-11 overall and 1-8 in SCIAC play.
CMS improves to 14-4 and 7-3.
Next Game: Oxy is back in action with a home doubleheader against Hamline at Bell Field on Friday.
