LOS ANGELES — The Occidental softball team lost a pair of games against Manhattanville at Bell Field on Wednesday.
The Tigers fell 4-1 in Game 1 and were tied 3-3 in Game 2 until a seven-run inning in the top of the sixth gave Manhattanville a big cushion and the win.
Game 1: Manhattanville 4, Occidental 1
The combination of Alexis Funaki, Madison Romero and Delaney Russell were solid in the circle, giving up just four runs.
Russell was the best, pitching the final three innings without a run against her.
Alycia Feeney went the distance for Manhattanville, earning the victory.
Nyla Gatison had a big day at the plate, going 3 for 3.
Romero drove in Oxy's run in the bottom of the seventh, singling to center to score Kristin LeBlanc, who came on to pinch run.
Game 2: Manhattanville 10, Occidental 3
The Tigers were in the mix until things unraveled in the top of the sixth. Manhattanville strung together a big rally for seven runs, putting the game away.
Russell pitched well until the one bad inning. She also hit well, going 2 for 3 with an RBI-single.
Kira Elliot went 2 for 3 with a pair of RBIs and a triple, and Alexandra Olkein went 2 for 4.
Season Impact: Oxy falls to 1-12 on the season.
Manhantanville remains undefeated, improving to 6-0.
Next Game: Oxy is back in action on Thursday in a doubleheader against Alfred.
