Redlands, CA — The Occidental men's water polo team ended their season on a high note, earning a 10-8 win on the road against the University of Redlands.
Oxy got out to an early lead, outsourcing Redlands 3-1 in the first period. Kellen Radtkey (Santa Barbara, CA) won the opening sprint to give Oxy starting possession. On that opening play, Shea Grosz (Lafayette, CA) found the back of the cage with the assist going to Radtkey. The Tigers continued to dominate the period, scoring the next two goals, both scored by Jarrod Norton (Newbury Park, CA) with Radtkey earning the assists, again. Redlands got up on the scoreboard before the period ended thanks to a goal by Austin Galanski. The Bulldogs came out strong in the second period, ready to make up for their slow start. Ron Gvishi won the sprint and set up Bradly Clinton for a goal. The Tigers quickly responded with three consecutive goals, two of which were shot by Christian Guilaume and one by Keegan Klein (Bellevue, WA). Going into the second half, the Tigers were up 6-3.
In the third period, the Tigers and Bulldogs would match each other in goals scored, 3-3. In the fourth, Klein beat Gvishi in the sprint, but eventually gave up possession due to an off-target pass. The Bulldogs outscored the Tigers in the final period, 2-1, but it was not enough to come back from behind.
The Tigers were led by Guillaume, who scored half of the team's total goals at five, and Radtkey, who scored one goal and had four assists.
