Los Angeles, CA — On Friday night, Oxy volleyball played an extraordinary match against CMS. The Tigers tied the Athena's multiple times in both the first and second sets and took the lead in the second set. Both the first and second sets were extremely close with the Tiger's scoring 22 and 23, respectively. Although the Tigers lost the match, the energy and perseverance throughout the three sets was unmatched!
Offensively, Aniya Hawthorne had the highest hitting percentage at .556 and tallied 5 kills. Estelle Harsh had the most kills for the night, contributing 9 for the Tigers and both Ariana Carranza and Lindsey Nurse had 7. Lindsey Nurse also had a 3 block sequence in the 1st set to help tie the score, which really got the crowd going. Senior setter Kat Chodaczek had 28 assists on her senior night, making smart offensive plays and leading the front row.
Libero Iris Archibald had 14 digs, the most for the Tigers and kept the defensive momentum with her quick hustle plays and strong presence. Kat Chodaczek and Estelle Harsh had 8 and 9 digs, making great moves on both offense and defense. The Tigers played an impressive match of volleyball against the number one ranked team in the SCIAC and should be extremely proud of their dedication and performance!
