Los Angeles, CA — The Occidental men's soccer team's first home game of the season came in an exhibition against California Miramar University.
The Tigers quickly got on the board first with the first goal of the game coming off a score by Marcus Chmielewski, with an assist from Andrew Notter. The Cal Miramar Fighting Falcons did not go away easily, retaliating with two goals in the at about the midway point of the 1st half to take a 2-1 lead.
Oxy came back less than four minutes later with a beautiful combination of passes that lead to Jake Foster receiving the ball in the middle of the field before passing back to Justin Kent who proceeded to find the back of the net for a goal to tie the game.
Foster would continue to play well in this one as he beat the goalie to a high bouncing ball near the front of the penalty box and used a header to get a nice goal to give Oxy the lead back just before the 1st half ended. At the start of the 2nd half, Foster would score again, this time using a well placed kick off of a pass from Sacha Serog.
The Fighting Falcons tried to come back strong, scoring a goal quickly after to get the deficit back to just 1. Oxy responded by playing stellar defense to finish off the game and win a close one, 4-3.
Next Game: Oxy will take on Bethesda University at home at 4:30pm on Thursday, September 1st.
